Event: Journaling your Breast Cancer Journey
Date: Saturday Mornings

Description: Instructor Kim Byerly, is an Art Educator & Breast Cancer Survivor
Explore color, texture, bookbinding and journaling in this fun three-session class. All levels of ability are invited to paint beautiful papers, learn several amazing book structures and finish them by adding words, doodles, images, etc of your personal journey. Dress for mess.

Look, Listen and Feel Lymphedema Care Class are invited to follow up at our monthly Arm Clinics.
Survivors will have an opportunity for:
1. An individualized lymphatic risk assessment
2. To discuss/ practice Manual Lymphatic Massage
3. To discuss the benefits of a compression sleeve and be fitted for a sleeve if ordered by your physician
4. To meet with a dietician for an individualized nutritional counseling session

Event: Sisters’ Network, Columbus, OH, Inc. "3rd Annual Gift For Life Block Walk & Health Fair"

Details: Volunteers still needed for this outreach block walk; volunteers will go door-to-door to provide information about breast health and breast cancer disparities in the African American population. This year there will also be free mammogram screenings with advance registration required for women who qualify (614-263-5006). Food, entertainment and other free health screenings will be provided at the community health fair!

Event: Look, Listen and Feel Lymphedema Care Class
Date: September 28

Details: Learn to recognize any early signs of lymphedema and how to reduce your risk for lymphedema and discuss who may benefit from wearing a compression sleeve. Listen to our expert nurses Carla Powell and Catherine Shade as they discuss what lymphedema is, how to prevent it from occurring and techniques you may use to control symptoms. Also learn how to do Manual Lymph Drainage Exercises to help move your lymph fluid.

Second Opinion Clinic at OhioHealth
Supported with a community health grant from Komen Columbus, the OhioHealth Second Opinion Clinic is held at Riverside Hospital and provides women a free second opinion on diagnosis and treatment. A group of multi-specialty physicians and professionals will meet with the patient to review her case and offer a comprehensive perspective before she decides on a treatment plan. Women diagnosed with breast cancer in Central Ohio who would like a second opinion before treatment are eligible. To make an appointment, call 1-800-752-9119 or 614-566-4321.

Healthy Steps

Healthy Steps consists of rejuvenating stretches and slow, smooth movements to help rehabilitate your body safely and effectively. The simple exercise routines are designed to relieve pain, combat fatigue, enhance balance and aid in the managment of lymphedema. Classes will meet each Thursday in a relaxed, fun atmostphere.
