The 18th Annual Race for the Cure on Saturday, May 15th is on track to be our biggest yet. Thanks to the thousands of people who have already registered and signed up to volunteer – know that you are making a difference in the fight against breast cancer.

The Race is next Saturday, May 15th – will you be one of 50,000 participants downtown? Get downtown early if you can – streets will begin to close by 7:30.

10:30 am Survivor Ceremony and Awards Celebration

Survivor Ceremony: Remember why we're here. Recognize why we race.
After you've crossed the finish line, make your way to the south side of the Statehouse for the 2010 Survivor Ceremony. Stay and celebrate the thousands of survivors who fought breast cancer and honor those who are no longer with us.

The ceremony will begin at 10:30 am.
Special Guest: Chris Spielman
Musical Guests: Capitol Showcase Chorus, Roberta Albert and the Hot Pink Racers

We'll also have a special dance performance that we'd love for you to take part in at the ceremony. Watch some students from Hamilton Township demonstrate the dance, work on your moves and we'll see you after the Race!

Online Fundraising
The deadline for all fundraising efforts is May 31, 2010 so now is the time to get the ball rolling! For more information or ideas on how to fundraise for this year’s Komen Columbus Race for the Cure visit komencolumbus.org.

Team Packet Pick-Up 
Attention team captains! If you didn't pick up your Team Packets last week, your team members' t-shirts and Race materials are at our office and need to be picked up by Wednesday, May 12. We’re located at 855 Grandview Ave., Suite 250, Columbus, 43215.

Team T-shirt Contest
We want to see your team t-shirts! Enter our team t-shirt contest by dropping off an extra team shirt to our office by Monday, May 10. All contest shirts will be visible in the Expo on Race Day.

Stanley Steemer Clean for the Cure
Visit the Kroger Marketplace location on Rt. 23 in Lewis Center, 6417 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center, OH, on Friday, May 7th from 11am-2pm to have Stanley Steemer professionally steam-clean your car for $25 each, a donation which will come to Komen Columbus.

Register for Heather and Stefanie’s Team at the Charles Penzone Grand Salons
Honor two breast cancer champions at this year’s Race for the Cure by joining Heather and Stefanie’s Team. Special registration sites will be open on Monday, May 10 from 11am-8pm at the following Charles Penzone Salons:

• The Charles Penzone Grand Salon in Dublin: 6671 Village Parkway, Dublin, OH 43017  
• The Charles Penzone Grand Salon in Gahanna/New Albany: 1356 Cherry Way Dr., Gahanna, OH 43230
• The Charles Penzone Grand Salon at Polaris Parkway: 771 Polaris Pkwy., Lewis Center, OH 43035

Adults can register for $40 and children 14 and under for $25. Want to express a unique style the day of the Race?  Receive a team registration and specially pre-cut and styled wig from the professionals at the Charles Penzone Salons for $45 or $30 for children.

Already a member of Heather and Stefanie’s Team?
If you’ve received your team t-shirt, packet and wig in the mail, trade in your UNOPENED wig for a pre-styled one for $5. All proceeds will support Heather & Stefanie’s Team.
 
Show your support
If you’re already registered for the Race as an individual or as part of another team, join in on the pink wig fun by purchasing a pre-styled wig for $10. All proceeds will support Heather & Stefanie’s Team.

Go to Bat Against Breast Cancer with the Indians vs. Reds
If you like Ohio baseball, you won’t want to miss out on the Sunday, May 23rd Indians vs. Reds game at Progressive Field in Cleveland. Thanks to great partnership with the Indians, we’re able to offer three levels of tickets through a special web site. Click here for more information.

Germain Promotion
Are you in the market for a new or used car?  May is going to be the perfect month to expand your car search to one of Germain Motor Company’s seven dealerships in the greater Columbus area.  During the entire month of May, Germain dealers will donate $50 of every car sold to Komen Columbus. Stop by your local Germain dealership to see where a great event and a great cause come together.

T-Mobile
Starting on Race Day, May 15 and ending on May 31, 2010, T-Mobile will donate $5 of every new phone activation at its Wireless Vision Columbus, LLC stores to Komen Columbus.
